What a fitting start to my beer blog adventure.  Yesterday, I had my wisdom teeth out.  After 31 years I finally made the long overdue call to rid myself of them.  This, in and of itself, is not a tragedy.  Where things turn Shakespearean is that our home-base bar, Encinitas Ale House, just announced that they will be getting Pliny the Younger today, Sunday.

For the uninitiated, Pliny the Younger is an incredibly rare beer by Russian River Brewing Company that is only produced once a year.  According to their website, it is a pain in the ass to make, but it’s too popular to retire into nevermore, unlike Eric’s Ale.  And yes, I am aware that I’m going a little overboard with the hyperlinks, but if you’re going to read this blog, you may as well get used to my foibles up front.  So know that today, your diligent new beer blogger will be sitting on his couch, swimming in Percocet, replete with chipmunk cheeks, whilst my lovely and doting fiancée will be snagging her ration of one Pliny only to rub it in my face.

Oh well, it’s not like I’ll have to wait another year to try the beer or anything…

Unrelated, thanks for stopping by my blog.  I’ll be blathering about all things beer at least once a week.  I’m not a brewer (yet), and I’m far from a beer snob, I’m just a guy who really likes beer, and wants to share that feeling with other like-minded folks.  Please let me know what you’d like to see from the site or if there’s any particular topic you’d like me to cover.  Happy reading and drinking!
